Feature. Support max 2TB external hard drive and 7mm / 9.5mm SSD, 2.5 inch SATA III hard drive (backward compatible SATA II /I). SATA 3.0 to USB 3.0, 10 times faster than USB 2.0, clear HDD case no need power cords, plug and play. UASP enclosure, 20% faster than traditional USB 3.0, lower CPU utilization.

Hot-swappable, tool-free HDD Installation and LED indicator ( will light when the hard disk is connected). Transparent innovative design, slim and portable SSD hard drive enclosure for Windows, Linux and Mac Description. This was a very simple hard drive enclosure. It's neat to be able to see the disc through there, and it was extremely easy to assemble. It came with its own cable which is good because it's not a standard cable, and it works fine. I had no problems when I swapped out my old hard drive for a higher capacity hard drive in my MacBook Pro.

I would buy one of these again. I probably will take the drive back out and put some kind of decorative identifier on the inside to jazz it up as well as make it a little easier to identify which drive it is.

I have some other enclosures that are totally solid color black and I'm always forgetting which one is the hard drive from which computer. That's why I like this one, For now I just put a sharpie name on the drive and I can see which one it is immediately. This is a great enclosure that allows for you to turn a loose 2.5 inch hard drive ( laptop size hard drive ) into a working external hard drive. It can be tricky trying to open the enclosure the first time so keep calm and take your time. I also suggest you use a screw driver and remove the circuit board and attach it to the HDD because its a tight fit.

Of course be sure to replace the screws and shut the enclosure and you are ready to rock and roll. There is a blue LED indicator that is bright to show when the drive is being accessed. All around a great buy ( I bought the transparent version because it looks awesome ). These are very surprising little enclosures, nice and cheap, I literally assembled an SSD hard disk in the dark one morning before the sun came up.I opened the box, figured out how to open this case just by feel. I inserted the SSD, it mated perfect, slid the cover on, plugged it in and formatted it.Cheap and easy.

It manages 250MB per second on Black Magic speed test, pretty good for $12. Mine included the USB3 cable. I bought two of these so I could have a spare. Maybe I need to buy another SSD for the spare case:-)Happy computing to all! Very unique looking. Works right away out of the box. There is some difficulty sliding the cover at first and more so harder when you've already placed the harddrive inside it and want to take it out.

But not enough to take off a star. I will however update this review in a month or a few months down the road and accordingly update the stars depending on if this still works. Sabrent EC-UASP Hard Drive Enclosure. USB 3.0 Cable. I've used this product while cleaning drives as well as as a handy case for both SSD's as well as with 5400rpm and 7200rpm HDD's and I've been quite pleased with it's performance during each occasion I've had to use it. It has now become, in fact, the de facto 2.5-Inch SATA drive holder for all my general needs. It's easy to use, is well designed -it certainly doesn't seem flimsy- and the pads included within it serve not just as a means to secure the drive being used but also allow for enough room that something of a heat-sink is created.

I've especially noticed this while using 7200rpm drives that would normally feel as if they were running much hotter than they appear to be within this enclosure. It easy to snap together and feels sturdy when locked, a blue light signifies proper drive functionality, and there's even an on/off switch. It also clocks impressive speeds with its USB 3.0 connection.

I highly recommend it. It's become my must trusted device of its kind and it's reasonable price makes it well worth the purchase. I purchased this after removing the hard drive from an old laptop. This device allows you too just pop it right in, nice and easy. The fit is nice and snug so your drive is secure. Afterward, I plugged it up to my computer and partitioned the hard drive.

This was my first time doing this, so I'm glad it was easy. Basically, I 've been looking at portable hard drives and figured this would be an inexpensive option. I had an old laptop that didn't work, $10 bucks, and a little effort; now I have a portable hard drive that I can use for all types of things. It looks great too, VERY HAPPY! I purchased the Sabrent EC-UASP (date: 2015/07/17) with the intentions of using it with a Samsung 840 EVO 250GB SSD as an external backup and storage device.

As someone who has worked with both consumer and professional ATA/SATA and SCSI/SAS storage subsystems, and have familiarity with ATA protocol in addition to USB specifications, I tend to have high standards, so when reading my review please keep that in mind. Below are my opinions that justify a 2-star rating, with photos included:.

A review from 2015/01/23 states, backed with photo evidence, that the EC-UASP uses an ASMedia 1053E SATA-to-USB bridge IC. However, the product I received uses a JMicron JMS567 SATA-to-USB bridge IC (USB vendor ID 0x152d, product ID 0x1567). JMicron has a track record of designing fairly buggy and unreliable storage ICs, often compounded with bad performance and quirky behaviour (i.e. SMART pass-through is often not supported or done incorrectly), and as such I avoid their chipsets; I prefer (for consumer use) ASMedia if possible, and the 1053E is indeed worthwhile. That said: I cannot tell if the IC in question is a real JMicron IC vs. A pirate replication (but usually pirated ICs lack silkscreening - this IC was silkscreened).

Read I/O performance using aforementioned SSD was quite disappointing - ranging between 95MByte/sec to 120MBytes/sec tops. The same SSD when hooked to a native SATA600 controller gets literally 3x that performance. This was with UASP enabled in my UEFI BIOS, using an Intel XHCI USB 3.0 host controller (PCI vendor ID 0x8086, device ID 0x1e31, revision 4), a subset of the Intel 7-series chipset. OS used was Windows 7 Ultimate SP1. I forgot to take screenshots of benchmarks, and for that I apologise. The USB descriptor data for this product was bizarre, and differs from what the user manual depicts. The USB Manufacturer string is 'FinalLap', and the Product is 'Go To Final Lap'.

No I'm not making this up - this is really what the SATA-to-USB bridge IC returns as part of its descriptor data, which Windows (and other OSes) will show as a device called 'Go To Final Lap'. I have not the slightest idea what this refers to, but the manual depicts a device called 'NS1066'. Descriptor strings that are strange like this often imply pirate/imitation ICs. The USB connector used on this device is a type A connector, which is not spec-compliant. Type A is intended for host controller connections or backplane of a computer. A USB 3.0 type B connector should have been used, specifically USB 3.0 Micro B given the limited height/form factor of the product. As another reviewer noted, the build quality of the enclosure itself is disappointing.

The product is very difficult to open, and in doing so you feel like you're going to break it (given that things are held in place with tabs made of plastic). However, unlike a (different) reviewer stated, it appears Sabrent now includes both a glued-in piece of foam (towards the front of the enclosure), as well as a wider piece of foam, to keep thinner MHDD or SSDs from 'shifting around' inside of the enclosure, so at least Sabrent did something about that, albeit somewhat ghetto. I'm not sure I'd trust using an MHDD in this enclosure as a result; SSDs have no moving parts, thus no vibration, so those are fine, but MHDDs (in my opinion) mandate use of screws.I'm still in the market for an enclosure, so sadly I can't recommend one that's identical in style/form factor as this. But if you're wanting something that's reasonably priced, spec-compliant, uses an ASMedia 1053E SATA-to-USB bridge IC, and supports 3.5' drives as well as 2.5', check out the Plugable USB3-SATA-UASP1 (that's 'Plugable' with one G, not two). The following are most recent and helpful reviews. This is pretty much like a lifeproof case but for you HHD or SSD.

I'll be honest it seems sturdy and nicely made and all but I wasn't about to risk and try to push the limits and test it out but I do travel a lot and over time I do drops things and things get scuffs etc and I'm around water a lot so although I did not test this case's waterproof ability (I'd rather not if I don't have to) I will still always bet that having this case is better than no case. But I did try it out under the sink without putting anything but paper towels inside and bam the paper towel was still dry afterwards.
