  1. Double Showcase Winner Rules

The rule was not present until some point between March 8, 1974 and April 18, 1974. Some of the pictures are available for a look at who the Double Showcase winning contestant looks like and what they looked like on the date it aired. But beware, some of the displayed dates are false; check the production number and then find out the correct airdate it was suppose to happen on. Seasons prior to Season 24 do not have complete data. All info found here has been taken from the DSW Database Website. It is not known if there were any Double Showcase Winners from Seasons 4, 7, 16, 17 and 21.

The retail price of her showcase was $15,247. I feel like I remember about 10+ years ago, the double showcase winner rule was 'be within $1,000 of your showcase without going over.'

More recently, I thought the rule had changed to 'be within $100 of your showcase without going over.' However, if that's the case, then they must have change the rule again for this woman to win both showcases. Anybody know the current rule and/or its history? - StingArmy Promote this thread! If both contestants go over, neither player wins his showcase. Beginning in the spring of 1974, if the winner is less than $100 away from (Seasons 2-26) or within $250 of (Season 27 onward) the price of his own showcase, he wins both showcases.

Double

If the two contestants are exactly the same distance from the actual prices (in other words, if there is a tie) without going over, each wins his own showcase; this has happened exactly once in the show's history. If there is a tie where the differences are within the Double Showcase range, both contestants win both showcases; this has never happened. (I had already looked it up and was about to post when I saw HIS post.) There are 10 kinds of people in the world. Those that can read binary and those that can't.
